People on the Path

Witcher 3 Ciri

Witcher 3 Ciri is the Child of Prophecy named in every Steam short description: Geralt is hired to find her. The roster is how Ciri, Yennefer, Triss, Vesemir, and Geralt attach to the Path, from White Orchard to Kaer Morhen and the epilogue. It is not a romance lock table and not an ending flag table. For those, use Witcher 3 Yennefer or Triss and Witcher 3 endings. For the order you ride, use Witcher 3 main quest order. The five-row board is the captured companion set: store-copy Ciri, hunt-opening Yennefer, Novigrad Triss, keep-mentor Vesemir, and the player witcher who makes every call.

Ciri’s job on the Path

Ciri is missing at the start and present in pieces: Velen rumours, Novigrad contacts, Skellige aftermath, then the Isle of Mists. After Kaer Morhen she is playable in bursts and her dialogue choices become the flags the endings board counts. She is not a follower you gear; school sets stay on Geralt. Treat her as the plot’s living target and as the person whose five post-Kaer beats decide Something Ends, Something Begins.

The empress branch needs her to visit Emhyr. The witcher branch needs her alive and off that throne. The lost branch is a failed tally, not a hidden death roll. Those rules live on Witcher 3 endings. Steam names her because she is the hired target, and the companions beside her are the people who move those flags. When a search for her name is really an ending question, jump to the flag table instead of rereading this roster.

Yennefer and Triss as Path anchors

Yennefer is why Geralt rides into White Orchard. Lilac and Gooseberries is a Yennefer hunt before it is a Ciri hunt. She later owns Lodge politics and several Kaer Morhen preparations. Triss owns Novigrad: the mage flight, Dijkstra’s city, and the stay/go talk. Neither woman is optional flavour if you are following Ciri; they are how two of the three trails work.

Their romance locks are separate from these jobs. You can refuse both romances and still need them on the Path. You cannot skip Yennefer’s opening and still call the White Orchard order complete. If you are here because a search for Witcher 3 Ciri mixed her up with a dating guide, keep the lock table on the romance page and keep the roster as the who-does-what board. Presence in Kaer Morhen or Novigrad is a story job. A lock is a named quest line on the romance board.

Vesemir and Geralt

Vesemir opens the Path twice: the keep prologue and the White Orchard ride, then the Battle of Kaer Morhen where he dies. No defender layout saves him. His story job is mentor and Wolf keep, not an ending flag. If a save is still in White Orchard, ride with him through the Griffin hunt before you chase Novigrad.

Geralt is the player witcher. Steam calls him a mercenary monster slayer; every irreversible beat in the main Path, the Northern war, and the two old expansions is his call. Gear schools, mutagen colours, and Gwent decks are his tools. Ciri’s flags are still his conversations. When the roster says a companion attaches to a region, it means Geralt meets them there, not that the companion becomes a second player character with a skill tree.

Dandelion, Dijkstra, Roche, Lambert, Eskel, and Regis appear on the Path and in expansions, but they are not the five-row board here. The roster names Ciri, Yennefer, Triss, Vesemir, and Geralt because those five carry the store copy, the romance locks, the keep death, and the epilogue flags. If you need Roche or Dijkstra, they live on the Northern war table. If you need Regis, he lives on Witcher 3 Blood and Wine. Keep the roster short and named: Witcher 3 Ciri, plus the company that actually moves her story. Vesemir opens the keep, Yennefer opens White Orchard, Triss holds Novigrad, and Ciri’s flags close the Path. That is the roster’s whole job.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ciri a romance option?

No. Ciri is Geralt’s ward and the Child of Prophecy the store copy names. Romance locks on this wiki are Yennefer, Triss, the double-romance fail state, and optional Shani in Hearts of Stone. Ciri’s page is about Path attachment and ending flags, not a partner ending. Search traffic for her name is often an ending question. Use the flag table for witcher, empress, or lost; use this roster for who stands in White Orchard and Kaer Morhen.

Does Vesemir survive if I bring extra witchers to Kaer Morhen?

No. Vesemir dies in the Battle of Kaer Morhen regardless of how you stack the defenders. Extra help changes how ugly the keep fight feels, not that story job. Blood on the Battlefield and Ciri’s snowball sit immediately after. Bring Lambert, Eskel, and the allies the keep quests offer if you want a cleaner wall, but do not reload the battle expecting a Vesemir-lives row that this inventory never captured. Extra witchers make the keep fight cleaner. They do not write a Vesemir-lives row. Blood on the Battlefield and the snowball still follow that death.
